Figs

£60.00

13 × 10 cm

Wood engraving

There is nothing better than a bowl of juicy, plump figs with yoghurt and honey at the end of summer when they are perfectly ripe. That is if you can beat the birds to them!

This colour engraving is made from four blocks printed in yellow, blue, red and black. Each block is carefully worked out and engraved separately so that when the blocks are printed together the layered colours of purple and green come alive. This engraving was created thanks to a QEST scholarship to learn the dark art of colour engraving with Chris Daunt.

These prints are original wood engravings. I engrave on boxwood or lemon wood blocks using traditional hand tools. Then I ink up the block and print the edition one at a time. Each print is an original artist print.

No. of prints in edition: 80

This print is made using Lawrence Original Linseed Oil Relief Ink. The formulas used to create these inks have been in use for hundreds of years and are “free from animal-based or derived ingredients, made with linseed oil, not honey or gelatine”. The paper is archival and acid free.

Each print is signed, titled and editioned in pencil below the image.
